Dr Johnson – 5 v 1 – GS Rockets
Last Thursday evening saw the final leg of the 2014-15 County Cup Final road show when we visited Chasetown FC for the re-arranged Sam Kimberley Cup Final, the match that was originally postponed in March 2015.
The game flew into life as early as the 6th minute when Dr Johnson, who started stronger, took the lead through a Chris Bull strike. The side then continued to press for a second and looked the stronger team until around 20 minutes into the match when GS Rockets came into their own.
The game remained very even for the remainder of the half, and Dr Johnson maintained their lead heading in for the half time break.
Half Time Score: 1 v 0
The teams came out for the second half and the roles were reversed when GS Rockets looked far more dominant and switched on. Their approached paid off in the 56th minute when the levelled the scores.
Both teams tried hard in the half an hour that remained to snatch a victory, however the game was destined for extra time.
Full Time Score: 1 v 1
Dr Johnson were the dominant side throughout the additional 30 minutes, and made their superior fitness count, bagging goals in the 100th, 105th, 108th and 121st minutes to secure a comfortable victory.
The game was marred in the 109th minute when GS Rockets player, Adam Dixon, sustained a nasty looking injury and had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher – we wish Adam all the best with his recovery.
AET Score: 5 v 1
We would like to thank Chasetown for hosting this fixture, along with all those who attended and enjoyed an exciting game of football to conclude the County Cup Finals for the 2014-15 Season.
