TB WILLIAMSON CUP MATCH REPORT
Barber Life have been crowned the champions of the TB Williamson Cup after a convincing 3-1 win over Whittington United in the final.
The game started brightly for Barber Life as they took the lead in the 20th minute through Griffiths. The midfielder hit a speculative shot from outside the box which took a wicked bounce before finding the back of the net, catching Joyce off guard.
Barber Life continued to dominate proceedings and doubled their lead in the 25th minute. Griffiths turned provider this time as he whipped in a cross to the back post where Wilson was on hand to finish with ease.
Whittington United had no answer to Barber Life's attacking prowess and found themselves three goals down in the 33rd minute. Hurd showed great skill to evade a tackle before squaring the ball to Wilson who scored his second of the game.
However, Whittington United were given a glimmer of hope just before half-time when they were awarded a penalty. Dixon stepped up and calmly converted to make it 3-1.
Whittington United started the second half strongly and had a great chance to reduce the deficit in the 59th minute. Rodgers and Russell linked up well to create an opening for Rodgers, but his shot went just wide of the post.
As the game approached its conclusion, the flow of the game was interrupted by multiple substitutions and players suffering from cramp. Barber Life held on for the win and were crowned worthy champions of the TB Williamson Cup.
