2025 Challenge Cup Final Match Report
A kick from the penalty mark enough to see Rushall Olympic U21 victorious over 10-man Bilston.
Ahead of this one both sides knew what each had to offer with the pair meeting twice already this season in the league. Having made it two wins from two already, Rushall were hoping three would be the magic number and enough to see them claim the prize.
A cagey first half with nothing more than half chances created for either side was the best of the opening 45. Bilston’s Jonah Scutt coming closest with two efforts in quick succession just before the break - one of which if it had found the top corner, it would certainly have been a Goal of the Cups contender.
Half Time: Bilston Town u21 0-0 Rushall Olympic U21
Into the second half and it was Rushall who were handed the chance to find the opener from 12-yards. The Pics number 11 stepped up to pick his spot and give his side the advantage.
If the task at hand wasn’t already tough enough for Bilston, it soon looked further out of reach. Scutt, who looked like Bilston's most likely goalscorer saw red on 70 minutes, in a melee in front of a crowd of 300 at the Silkmore Lane Sports Ground.
Despite being reduced to 10, it was the Steelmen who looked the most dangerous moving into the closing stages, with a number of efforts at goal including a Harreson Clarke effort that brushed the upright with just eight minutes remaining. It just wasn’t to be for Kyle Wainwright’s side.
