Get involved in local female football
Explore how you can get involved in Female Football in Staffordshire no matter your age, experience or ability
With almost 3 million active female players, football is the biggest women’s team sport in England – but we’re working to grow the game further so even more people can get involved.
Across Staffordshire there are already lots of opportunities for people of all ages, experiences and abilities to enjoy the beautiful game in a format right for you. Whether you want a casual kickabout with your mates, enjoy regular participation or you want to be the next Chloe Kelly, there is something for you!
Staffordshire hosts several recreational football providers for both girls and women to be introduced or reintroduced to the game; designed for women and girls to enjoy participation in a social environment and encouraged to lead healthy lives. The FA programmes, Wildcats (5-11 years old), Squad Girls (12-14 years old) and Just Play (16+) are perfect place to start for women and girls, if you’re not sure how to get involved.
The Staffordshire Girls and Ladies Football League offers competitive female football in the most traditional format of the game and competition. Including age groups from under 8s through to women’s divisions, playing in the league will offer a great level of football to be played on a weekly basis. Branching off from the traditional format, introduction of the Women’s Midweek Division allows women (16+) the opportunity to play small-sided semi-regular games with their teams during the week – a perfect progression from ‘Just Play’ recreational sessions, yet don’t require the commitment and/or include ability/fitness pressures of the traditional format.
