Staffordshire’s First Full Male Pathway League
Staffordshire FA is pleased to announce that an entire male pathway has been created through a league to replicate the female game.
The Staffordshire Junior Football League is working in partnership with the Staffordshire County Senior League to provide a pathway from Mini Soccer, Youth, Adult, Walking Football and a provision for disability football. The league aims to offer a clear pathway for those youth players, who want to play adult Saturday Football in the future, within the county and higher.
Currently the Staffordshire County Senior League offers football for a range of abilities, with the Premier Division operating as a feeder league to the National League System, formally known as Step 7.
It is hoped that with the formation of the league this will reduce administration for clubs, through staying with the same, well-organised league throughout their footballing journey. It aims to keep travel to a minimum whilst playing against clubs with the similar ambition of pushing their players onto playing football on a Saturday afternoon within the county.
The League will have a strong start with teams, clubs and committee members moving from the Potteries Junior Youth League from a range of age groups.
The Staffordshire County Senior League already have the solid foundations of an U19s development league which is due to start in the 2021/22 season, whilst the Staffordshire Junior Football League will aim to provide opportunities up to the age of U16, before the teams move into U19.
The merger of the leagues under one banner will formalise in 12 months’ time with structural changes of committees taking place through the season.
Staffordshire County Senior League Chairman, Ross Crawford, added: “I am absolutely delighted that the Potteries Junior Youth League and the Staffordshire County Senior League will be joining forces in readiness for the new season. This is an important step in our shared vision, along with that of the Staffs FA, in launching a Staffordshire Football League, creating a football pathway bringing together junior, youth and adult competitions. We are all excited and convinced that the new League structure will raise standards, increase participation and future proof Saturday football across the county and beyond.”
