February Volunteer of The Month
Matthew Hill, a passionate volunteer and coach from AFC Moorland Juniors, has been honoured as the Staffordshire FA's Volunteer of The Month for February.
His unwavering commitment to coaching and managing 2/3u15s teams is truly remarkable.
Matthew's hard work has resulted in the successful transformation of a U7 team to three U15s teams, and he has taken a small village football team and built up a much wider community football club.
In addition to being a full-time sports coach, Matthew goes above and beyond in his volunteer work by spending countless hours on the training ground after work. His dedication and selflessness truly shone through when, just hours after the birth of his daughter on 11th February, he was back on the touchline at 8.30am the following morning, leading his team to the semi-finals of the cup.
Despite his many achievements, Matthew remains humble and never expects anything in return for his time and commitment, except for the enjoyment of the boys, their families, and friends. He has brought his 20+ years of experience as a community football coach from Stoke City to Port Vale, providing boys from the local communities the opportunity to benefit from his skills and expertise.
Matthew's incredible contribution to the world of junior football has created a much wider community football club, and his willingness to never let his players down has led him to create three teams. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and we are thrilled to see him receive this well-deserved recognition as Staffordshire FA's Volunteer of The Month for February.
