Leek Town and Rushall Olympic are set to go head-to-head for the coveted title at Stoke City's bet365 Stadium on Tuesday, April 16th, kick-off 7:45pm.
In a repeat of last season's final, this promises to be yet another exciting clash. Leek Town have beaten the likes of Hednesford Town, Chasetown and Stoke City to reach this final this season, whilst current holders Rushall Olympic have seen off Lichfield City, Eccleshall and Kidsgrove Athletic.
Last season's final looked to be heading the distance with neither side able to break the deadlock. Leek had a huge chance with 3 minutes of the 90 remaining as Stevenson found himself one on one with the Rushall 'keeper, but Weaver saved well. As the fourth official indicated a minimum of 4 minutes added time, Rushall began to pile on the pressure, and two minutes into the added four they found the breakthrough. Fletcher danced his way through the Leek defence before placing his shot right into the bottom corner.
Leek Town
Leek Town have had a remarkable season, clinching promotion from the Northern Premier League West as champions. With an impressive tally of 78 points from 36 league matches, they suffered only six defeats throughout the league campaign. Their journey in the FA Cup was equally noteworthy, though they narrowly missed out on advancing to the first round proper after a 3-1 loss to National League side AFC Fylde. Despite a spirited effort, Josh Brehaut’s squad couldn’t overcome their full-time opponents. Leek Town has previously clinched the Senior Challenge Cup once in 1996 and has been finalists on ten occasions.
Rushall Olympic
Rushall Olympic have relished their debut season in the National League North, having earned promotion in the previous campaign. Currently positioned just two spots above the relegation zone with one league fixture left, the are determined to secure their status. They aim to win the Senior Challenge Cup for the 5th time, and go in to the final as current holders.
