Rushall Olympic Retain Walsall Senior Cup
WALSALL SENIOR CUP MATCH REPORT
In a thrilling Walsall Senior Cup final, Rushall Olympic staged a comeback against Chasetown to secure their third consecutive title with a 4-1 win.
The game kicked off with Chasetown drawing first blood as Danny Glover capitalised on a quick cross from Jack Langston, smashing the ball home from close range just ten minutes in.
However, Rushall Olympic quickly found themselves on the attack, with Farmer and Oseni threatening the Chasetown defence.
Despite several chances for Rushall, it wasn't until the 39th minute that they found their equaliser. Jaden Charles unleashed a powerful left-footed strike that proved too much for Chasetown's goalkeeper, Bradley Clarkson.
The momentum shifted in Rushall's favour as Farmer added a second goal just two minutes later, before Maher extended their lead to 3-1 just before half time with a clinical finish.
The second half saw both teams fighting for control, with Chasetown trying to claw their way back into the game. However, Rushall remained resolute in defence with goalkeeper Jacob Weaver making crucial saves to deny Chasetown any hope of a comeback.
Rushall continued to dominate proceedings, with Green adding a fourth goal in the 76th minute to seal their victory and secure the Walsall Senior Cup for the third consecutive season.
In the end, Rushall Olympic's attacking display and solid defence proved too much for Chasetown, as they celebrated yet another triumph in the competition.
